It's time to get your Namibian safari underway. There are just a few formalities before you get started, and we'll have you out on the road and exploring in no time. The wildlife and landscapes that lie just over the horizon mean you have so much to look forward to and it all starts here.

Windhoek is one of southern Africa's more relaxed capital cities, with wide boulevards and lots of German-era colonial architecture. The city also has excellent choices when it comes to eating and shopping, and it's home to Namibia's best museums as well.

The sand dunes of Sossusvlei are one of the greatest natural wonders of southern Africa, and you'll get to see it all. Access to this remarkable place is a long sand valley lined with dunes of seemingly impossible size and beauty. Climb one for incredible views, and then enjoy the warm and softening colors of the sand near sunrise and sunset.

We know you'll love Swakopmund as much as we do. It's one of Namibia's prettiest towns, with German colonial-era buildings, from churches and half-timbered houses to the remains of a formidable fortress. You can see the sand dunes of the Namib from some points in town, and there are so many activities on offer while you're here.

You're in one of Namibia's most beautiful corners as you explore the northern region of Damaraland. Apart from the beautiful and rugged landscape, where brown mountains shelter numerous prehistoric rock art sites, you might see desert-adapted elephants, giraffes, rhinos, or even lions, especially in the river valleys.

If you're really lucky, you might see four of the Big Five (lions, leopards, elephants and rhinos) while you're exploring Etosha National Park. Elephants coated in white dust, and rhinos by the waterholes after dark are particular highlights. But what gives Etosha its gravitas is the landscape of unending salt pans that make for stunning sunrises and sunsets.

There's so much to see when you visit Okonjima Nature Reserve, halfway between Windhoek and Etosha. Lucky visitors will see leopards and even pangolins. You can also see cheetahs in an enclosure and learn about AfriCat's important conservation work while you're here. Other wildlife includes brown hyena, warthog, oryx and different antelopes. The reserve has a range of accommodation as well.
